Wi-Fi technology, as we know it, operates in the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 5 GHz bands. However, in certain countries, some portions of the 5 GHz band are allocated for other applications like weather radars. To resolve this conflict, Wi-Fi devices (APs) are required to vacate the current channel and switch to frequencies that do not interfere with these important applications. This capability is achieved through Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS), which enables APs to detect radar pulses and shift to non-interfering frequencies.

DFS support is mandated in various countries or “reg domains.” Therefore, AP manufacturers need devices to simulate radar pulses. WiCheck, with its built-in software called Radar Pulse Generator, can generate such pulses across different frequencies. WiCheck offers a comprehensive test suite to verify the functionality of APs according to the specifications provided by spectrum controlling agencies like FCC and EU.
